Insight Series ( Yes, I am doing it for ACE )

Last week, I was roped in by my form teacher to join an event titled the "Insight Series". Let me begin by giving a short insightful introduction on what the "Insight Series" was about.
Basically, it was a joint event between a few schools ( With mine being the most prestigious hahaha )and debates are carried out not in the context of our modern day society but context of Disney's Fairy Tales. The issues at hand however, are the problems we face in our modern society such has nudity and child abuse. Sounds interesting, does it not? Well, I was the usher for the event and while I was leading students into the auditorium ( Which was only 5 meters away from me, thus explaining the redundancy of my role...but it was still an essential. ) , I overheard the organiser of the event commenting how the teachers from other schools were so excited about the event because they "have never seen anything like this". Alright, enough on my experiences. Let me move on.

Okay, I will still be sharing my experiences. Well, maybe more of my opinion on the little sharing session we had with the Attorney-General Chamber. Of course, I cannot be arguing against what he said because his sharing session was about the judiciary system in Singapore. Like I have said, he was presenting facts. No arguments. But I found his presentation inspiring. To be honest, I have always considered becoming an attorney, albeit the bar examination has set its "bar" too high up and I am BARely qualified ( You get the puns ? ). His presentation included the procedures from the point of arrest to the passing of the sentence of a criminal. This gave me an insightful understanding of how the judiciary system works and the rationale behind it. For example, I was told that he ( The Attorney-General ) has the right to decide whether or not a person can be charged. If he deems that person not guilty or that the case was simply a trivial matter, no court proceedings will follow up on that case. This greatly emphasised how much power he holds and how much responsibility he carries, which made me even more eager to pursue a law career. His presentation also made everyone in the auditorium to be more aware of the law. He gave examples of common crimes, their punishment and how he decides whether or not he will bring it to court.

In the nutshell, the Insight Series was an enriching event though most of the information he shared was what I knew beforehand. But my greatest takeaway was having the chance to hear all these from the Attorney-General himself as well as his experiences in the field; something I can never pick up from a book.

Thats all. Signing off.
